What Is Singapore SaberCon 2026? Southeast Asia's First Lightsaber Convention Explained
Share
Singapore SaberCon 2026 is Southeast Asia's inaugural immersive lightsaber and LARP (live-action roleplay) convention, taking place on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at *SCAPE The Loft (Level 4), 2 Orchard Link, Singapore. Entry to the main event floor is completely free.
If you've ever wanted to wield a lightsaber, build one from scratch, or step into a Bounty Hunter LARP mission, this is the first event of its kind to land in the region.
What Actually Happens at SaberCon?
Unlike a standard fan convention, SaberCon is built around doing, not just browsing. The event has three main zones:
The Open Floor (Free Admission)
The main convention floor is open to all visitors with no ticket required. You'll find:
- A curated marketplace of saber vendors, prop makers, and collectible sellers
- A live dueling tournament stage where participants compete in choreographed and competitive saber bouts
- Live demonstrations by Valis Academy instructors throughout the day
- Cosplay photo zones and community meetup areas
The Experiences (Ticketed, Limited Capacity)
Three paid experiences run in time-slotted waves:
The Forge: Saber Workshop (from $188 SGD) — The centrepiece experience. You choose components, assemble a custom lightsaber hilt under guided instruction, and leave with a fully built saber. Sessions run approximately 90 minutes.
The Academy: Saber Choreography Workshop ($10 SGD) — A beginner-friendly introduction to saber forms and basic choreography, led by Valis Academy. Suitable for all ages including children.
Sector 65: Interactive Experience ($18 SGD) — An immersive LARP mission set in the Outer Rim universe. Choose a faction — Imperial, Bounty Hunter, or Rebellion — and participate in a narrative-driven scenario.
Who Is This For?
SaberCon is genuinely for everyone, not just hardcore fans. The event draws:
- Families with children — the free floor and Academy workshop are both kid-friendly
- Cosplayers — the venue is built for photo opportunities and costume showcases
- Collectors and hobbyists — the marketplace features real saber makers and accessories
- Competitive duelists — the live tournament is open to participants with their own sabers
- Curious newcomers — free entry means there's zero commitment to show up and explore
Where Is It?
The event is held at *SCAPE, a well-known youth arts and culture hub on Orchard Link, just minutes from Somerset MRT. The convention occupies The Loft on Level 4. *SCAPE is accessible by MRT (Somerset station, North-South Line, Exit B), multiple bus routes, and taxi/Grab.
Is It Related to Star Wars / Disney?
No. Singapore SaberCon is an independently organised event run by SMX Industries Collective in partnership with Valis Academy. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Disney, Lucasfilm Ltd., or any LFL Ltd. production. It is a community-driven celebration of saber culture and LARP.
How Do I Get Tickets?
General admission is free — just show up. Workshop passes can be booked at singaporesabercon.com/collections/experiences. Capacity for all three workshops is strictly limited, and The Forge in particular is expected to sell out well in advance.
